THE BRIGHT SIDE
Are bike racks going to become a permanent feature in downtown Lake Geneva?
At last week’s Business Improvement District (BID) meeting a public comment was read about the lack of bike racks downtown, when biking is a big part of Lake Geneva and the surrounding communities. The Lake Geneva Bike Path alone has five different routes that connect to hundreds of miles of additional trails. Locals and visitors alike have a difficult time finding somewhere to park their bikes after wanting to take a break and enjoy all that downtown Lake Geneva has to offer.
Some local businesses will let bikers park their bikes next to their building, patio, or inside but not all have the room to offer that. This issue was brought up to public works and Tom Earle is on board with the idea but, funding and the type of bike racks need to be decided. Many members would like to make sure the racks will also hold fat tire bikes which are also very popular around the lake. The BID members decided to do additional research and come back next month with options for racks, along with pricing.
Don’t forget about the Social Security and Medicare scams you are seeing on your television all the time right now.
It’s re-enrollment time, especially for Medicare. There is no Part C to Medicare, despite the ads. That’s a scam to get Medicare recipients to give up benefits (yes, you can sign off your Medicare benefits to join a private plan…but you can’t get them back). The Advantage, Part C, and the rest of them (shame on Joe Namath, who is one of the principal actors making the ads) are plans that do not return you money or give you dental insurance or more. They are scams to give you almost no coverage in place of what you used to have. Keep your Social Security intact and your Medicare as it is. These are some of the best socially successful plans of all time. Enjoy being older and secure in America.
