OUR PLACE

Councilpersons John Halverson and Mary Jo Fesenmaier met at the library to break new ground.
Emily Kornack, head librarian at the Lake Geneva library came up with the idea of providing library space for a couple of city leaders to sit, associate and talk with public constituents (and any others who might show up).  That meeting took place last Saturday morning and was a staggering success.  The Geneva Shore Report showed up, but promised to keep all discussions off the record, except those approved.  The meeting was terrific, with John and Mary Jo, two of the city’s best alderpersons, giving and take on any number of subjects.

One subject the GSR is allowed to write about deals with the takeoff and landing area for the kayaks, located along the water by the fishing pier at the west end of the downtown beach area.  It’s very difficult, currently, for kayakers to get in and out of their craft while trying to balance on the slippery rocks along the shore, as there’s no other supporting stuff extended out into the water to help.   This is an issue that needs to be looked into and both city council members took notes about it.  The meeting was so well-mannered, especially in these times seemingly filled to overbrimming with political rancor and tough talk.   This kind of event has to become a regular exercise as both the public and the city leadership profited mightily.
