SURPRISING STUFF

Pea gravel.
Cheap Seal, tar, pea gravel, all of these things are applied to asphalt roads all over Wisconsin every June or early July when putting the stuff down to extend the life of asphalt roads is most effective.  Pea gravel is gravel the size of peas, or so, and is laid over a sealing coat of tar or seal.  It’s then rolled down and after a few days wear of cars and trucks driving over it, isn’t noticed any longer by-passing motorists.  Usually, the roads have to be re-lined.  This article is about pea gravel because the stuff is being used all over Walworth County just now and, combined with rising temperatures and the fire smoke drifting down from Canada, is of particular notice and bother (lots of dust is involved with laying pea gravel down and then driving on the surface until the gravel ‘ground’ into the roads.  It’s an effective cheap fix for the roads though and seems to be pretty effective.

Have you noticed the monumental increase in television ads by the Balance of Nature people, along with the criminal new ones trying to get old people to give up their Part B Medicare coverage for junk?
Will you please not buy this junk?  The GSR has no ‘skin in this game’ so the staff is writing only to help you save your money and possibly part of your sanity.  Balance of Nature sells phony pills that cost $89.95 per month and provide you with a secret dosage of nothing.  That’s right. Since Balance of Nature is not marketed as a drug it’s not governed by the Food and Drug Administration.  That means, in American sales parlance, they can lie all they want and as long as the phony product doesn’t hurt you there are no rules.  The phony product can’t hurt you because it’s made up of sugar, flour, and baking soda.  Notice the unending ads, and even some of the off the edge of the cliff right wing political papers they publish.  Where do they get that money?

The new Advantage (supposedly now called Plan C) programs invented by the big insurance companies to fleece senior citizens of not only their money but their choice to see a doctor close by or that is known by them.  No, there’s no eye, hearing or dentistry coverage.  That’s all bogus and in advertising only.  By the time you get the plan you have basically nothing and Medicare won’t let you have your Plan B coverageback.  This is all a trick by the politicians to get you out of the best American health care plan ever provided to the American public…that that public has paid for.  The government pays for you to sign up.  You sign up and the companies fleece you by giving you absolute crap for coverage and denying you at every turn when you need help.  Why is this going on?  Try 62,000,000,000 dollars that went to those companies in the last year alone.  Supposedly great companies like USAA, Aetna, and Humana are deeply involved.  Don’t do it.  If you did then try to get your Plan B back.  Please!
