SURPRISING STUFF

Geneva Lake is the highlight of the summer season in Lake Geneva.
It was also, at that time, a huge source of revenue for the city. Riviera Beach admittance is ten dollars a person, which has increased the revenue from last year at this time. The Lake Geneva City Boat Launch revenue is also a significant revenue source for the city. The boat and buoy rentals are another consistent source of revenue. The West End Pier area of the lake shore is very popular and gets a lot of use what with dog access, boat renters, lake shore path goers, and kayaks. With the number of people coming this year, the regular maintenance and repairs add up to using a good chunk of that revenue. The kayakers launching in this area do so for free, and as the saying goes ‘you get what you pay for,’ applies there.

This stretch of shoreline is not accommodating or easily accessible for everyone and the harbor master would like to improve and create a friendlier for all areas to launch. This cost money, money not in the budget so the harbor master suggested the kayakers pay a fee of five dollars for the honor system to launch. The money raised by the launches would be separate and used specifically for improvements to the kayak launch. Currently, this is just an idea and will be brought back for discussion at city meetings.

Why, when the city expects to have another year of multi-million-dollar surplus in revenue, such things are considered necessary can only be answered by the city administration, and, likely, since they don’t have to respond, there will only be the Sounds of Silence from them (Disturbed version, not Simon and Garfunkel).
