OUR PLACE
The Walworth County Out of the Darkness walk is taking place on Saturday, September 23rd.
The event starts at Flat Iron Park, with check-in beginning at 9 a.m. The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It brings local communities closer together and unites those in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected their lives and the lives of those they love and care about. Suicide is a public health problem and the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide can be prevented with more investment in suicide prevention, education, research, and advocacy as they things have been proven to help save lives.
These walks give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the problem, and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Flat Iron Park will also have on-site activities, and ‘honor beads’ will be available on-site to show connection(s) to the cause, and a wall of hope and healing to share messages of hope and remembrance.
If you, or someone you know, is in a crisis, dial 988 or text TALK to 741-741.
You can register in-person at the Walk Out of Darkness from the time check-in begins until the walk starts at 11 a.m.
