Veterans Day is observed on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
This national holiday is a day set aside to thank and honor those who served honorably and those killed in the military in both wartime and peacetime. This year Central Denison’s Dynamic Dolphins Choir wants to honor our Veterans in a big way. On Monday, November 13th at the beautiful Riviera Ballroom, the choir will perform patriotic songs. The program will be followed by a walk to the Poppy Statue and Veteran Memorial in Library Park. The Lake Geneva Business District is participating in Veterans Day with a small token of appreciation to all Veterans with discounts throughout the downtown businesses.
The BID is introducing a Veteran Banner Initiative. Businesses, organizations, and citizens can sponsor a banner honoring a veteran. Banners will include the Vet’s picture, name, and a link to an online platform to tell the veteran’s story. The banners will be displayed over important holidays including Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and July 4th. The banners are a beautiful way to get to know local veterans and thank them for their service. For more information go to DowntownLakeGeneva.org.
Where have all the flowers gone…long time passing?
Where has Linda Frame gone since October 10th of this year? She went into very intensive hip replacement surgery, and she’s had one heck of a time coming back from it. You won’t hear that kind of data from Mayor Mayor or her group of band players that remind the staff of the Geneva Shore Report of that group that played for Dr. Phibes in those horror movies.
Frame is still at home, a superlative and tough-minded woman and alderperson she is, but the city needs her back in play and everyone needs to know that she did not step away with intent. Dunn would be asleep at the helm but he’s not, instead droning away about nothing or what seems to resemble nothing. ‘Joanie the Diner’ talks but Howdy Doody would make more sense. At least, in those old television shows, Howdy had screenwriters…but oh, we forgot, Mayor Mayor is a bit of a screenwriter herself when it comes down to what is coming out of some of the people, she’s mounted up on the dais with her.
