SURPRISING STUFF
The Holiday Open House in downtown Lake Geneva was this past weekend.
The stores were decked out for the holidays, some offering treats and cocoa. A beautiful example of small-town charm for the holiday season. It was very well attended, and it felt like the holidays. Greenery is hung and holiday decor is everywhere. Lake Geneva is a wonderful community with wonderful people and a picture-perfect small town to enjoy the Christmas season. With all the one-of-a-kind Christmas finds, Lake Geneva is a must when doing holiday shopping.
Shop Small Saturday is November 25th the day after black Friday and downtown shops are ready to participate with great gift items at discounted prices. While shopping downtown everyone is encouraged to vote on their favorite Christmas window display. Every year the downtown shops decorate the storefronts for the holidays and hold a friendly competition with each other on who is the best. This year the BID has decided to have the voting over the Black Friday and Shop Small Saturday weekend, so from November 24th through November 26th voting will take place via a QR code displayed in each participating window. The winner will be announced on Monday, November 27th. During previous years the window display competition had voting for a month and then after the holidays the winner was announced, and the winner received bragging rights. This year should be exciting, and the winner gets a prize for free marketing!
Another change the BID is making this year is the Tree in the Brunk Pavilion. Instead of the one grand tree that was partially hidden by the roof of the pavilion, the local Boy Scouts are donating three trees that will be decorated and lit during the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Light Up Lake Geneva Tree Lighting kicks off this festive holiday weekend on Friday, November 24, at 5 p.m. in Flat Iron Park. Crafts will be available before the ceremony to make ornaments for the trees and the man of the season, Santa Claus, will be making a special visit. This is sure to be a wonderful holiday weekend that is guaranteed to fill everyone with the Christmas Spirit.
