OUR PLACE

Teacher of the Year.
The competition is on for teacher of the year in Walworth County for Joint#1 and Badger District, Special Services Teacher of the Year, and Support Staff of the Year for both Joint#1 and Badger Districts. Lake Geneva Schools are filled with wonderful caring teachers who go above and beyond daily. The people who make up the staff of the schools are who and why the schools work as well as they do. Appreciation and admiration for these people needs to be shared with them and celebrated.

Everyone is encouraged to make a nomination. Nominations need to be in by Friday, March 8th, forms can be completed at https://bit.ly/3Tebfa6. Five of the nominations will be selected and recognized at the Annual Staff Banquet in May.

Never Say Never.
The beat goes on as the successful transfer of the project out of Lake Geneva and into Delavan proceeds.  The leadership of Lake Geneva is pretty outraged, blaming both the wonderful people serving on the Never Say Never board of directors and the Geneva Shore Report itself for endorsing that board and the very necessary move.

The current leadership of Lake Geneva, and the election is coming on April 2nd, has not supported Never Say Never Playland, neither has the city attorney in Lake Geneva and neither has the Hillmoor Ad Hoc Committee.  Never Say Never is a Wisconsin 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation, duly registered with the State of Wisconsin.  The people serving on the board, all seven of them, are strictly volunteers, and they have had to deal with the leaders and functionaries of Lake Geneva who are anything but volunteers…and that difference in spirit has shined through.

Let’s concentrate on the positives.  Never Say Never Playland is a Walworth County charitable corporation, not a Lake Geneva entity.  Delavan welcomed this project with warm open arms and their welcome has been extraordinary.  The city itself is going out for grants to finance the project instead of the board having to try to figure out how to do all that.  Mr. Krug, the Parks and Recreation Director of Delavan has also taken the project under his wing to make it all happen, and to provide land and location as well as a plan to acquire and support the equipment and the maintenance of it.
