OUR PLACE
Still missing city meetings?
The city council approved the new technology, and it was installed over a year ago. The streaming of meetings has much improved, but the city government’s cable channel 25 is still not fully functional. There were many issues and excuses along the way, including compatible parts, backordered parts, increased cost, and spectrum services.
The most recent update from the Lake Geneva City Administrator on the issue is that we are close. Channel 25 is in signal calibration. The city has been working with its IT people to get the signal sorted out on its end, and now, hopefully, the issue will be resolved, and channel 25 will be up and running. It’s only been two years and a lousy couple of hundred grand, so what’s the big deal?
The big deal is that the city, some of it in leadership, is not highly motivated to have the electorate (you) listening in on their discussions about what is done with the money collected.
The Lake Geneva schools are looking for nominations.
Many nominations have already been submitted, but there is still time to make a last-minute nomination. If you know an outstanding teacher or staff member at the Lake Geneva School District, both Joint #1 and Badger districts, the Directors of Curriculum would like to hear from you.
The award categories are Teacher of the Year for Joint#1 and Badger District, Special Services Teacher of the Year, and Support Staff of the Year for both Joint#1 and Badger Districts.
Lake Geneva Schools are filled with wonderful, caring teachers who go above and beyond daily. The people who make up the staff of the schools are who and why the schools work as well as they do. Appreciation and admiration for these people need to be shared with them and celebrated. Everyone is encouraged to make a nomination.
Nominations need to be in by Friday, March 6th. Forms can be completed at https://bit.ly/3EuMW2C. Five of the nominations will be selected and recognized at the Annual Staff Banquet in May. Additionally, the district accepts ongoing nominations for the “Unsung Heroes” recognition, honoring staff who make a meaningful difference.
