THANK GOD FOR DELAVAN!

There’s a war raging in the Middle East.  The Israeli States of America, or the giant U.S. behind this prison-avoiding leader over there named Netanyahu, is bombing the hell out of Iran.  Iran is firing all over the place in enraged protest and total outrage for being surprised and attacked.  Donald Trump and Hegseth, neither of whom has even seen a day in combat, nor will they, nor their family members either, are pushing Tomahawk launch buttons and flying bombing sorties as this is written.  That civilians are now dying by the thousands is meaningless to this coalition of such stupidity that it can’t figure out why Iran was attacked in the first place.  “It’s regime change, whatever that is supposed to be in a Muslim country, and then it’s nuclear weaponization, which was supposed to be destroyed in the last attack, and then it’s the attack that Israel was making that had to be ‘defended’ because the Iranians would attack the U.S. because of Netanyahu.” The only thing left out is the Epstein documents that Trump has refused to allow the public to see the light of day.

But it’s not all bad news.  The 19th Annual Delavan Train Show is coming to town this weekend, March 7th and 8th! Climb aboard for a full day of railroading fun and step into a miniature world. Explore detailed model train displays chugging through multiple “stops” around historic downtown Delavan. From engine to caboose, it’s the perfect way to spend the day with family and friends. The Delavan Train Show brings detailed model train displays and miniature scenes to locations throughout downtown, inviting visitors to explore at their own pace. The Delavan Train Show will showcase a spectacular array of model train layouts in the main and lower levels of the Delavan American Legion Hall, Delavan’s City Hall, and various businesses throughout Downtown Delavan.

With free admission and multiple stops to visit, it’s a great way to spend a relaxed day wandering downtown, popping into local shops, and enjoying a bite to eat along the way.  This is the neatest celebration and sales event that Delavan puts on once a year, and if you haven’t gone, you are missing more than you know.  It’s just wonderful, and the people putting it on and the people going without charge are wonderful too.  Take the kids.  The medication for the fearful war news abroad and the abhorrent behavior of your country’s leaders is to turn and face the good news.

The good news is all local, as you are reading in this newspaper, with very few exceptions where they need to be.  Nobody locally is dying or being bombed or murdered, and the incidence of those things in and around Geneva Lake is almost non-existent.  It’s vitally important to take in what can be taken in from the mass media about what is happening over there, but never forget that it is happening over there.  It’s okay to be outraged when all of us see that the U.S. mistakenly bombed an elementary school in Tehran, killing over 150 kids, as this is the kind of truly awful stuff that happens in war, and why we all must work so hard to not go to war or to end it as quickly as possible if it begins.  The Train Show is so filled with great fun-loving people that it renews hope in mankind by attending, and hope-filled days are badly needed.
