THE BRIGHT SIDE
Tuesday, May 19th, is the day to give blood in Lake Geneva.
American Legion Post 24 will be hosting a blood drive on May 19th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Post 24, 735 Henry Street. All blood donated stays in this area. Call Rock River Valley Blood Center at 815-965-8751 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome too! All donors will receive a certificate for a pint of Culver’s custard.
The Lake Geneva Police Department will also be hosting a blood drive that day on the second floor of City Hall in the police training room. Donations start at 1 p.m. and go until 5:15 p.m. A severe national blood shortage was declared in early 2026, with the Red Cross reporting a 35% drop in blood supply over a single month.
The shortage is particularly critical for platelets and types O, A negative, and B negative blood due to low donor turnout and the harsh flu season. Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and there is no substitute for human blood donations. If able, please support these two establishments in replenishing local blood supplies.
