LITTLE GEMS

It’s time to get the Streets of Lake Geneva Christmas tree delivered and decorated.
The Monday after Thanksgiving November 29th is the day the tree will be cut down and transported to Flat Iron Park. The tree has been graciously donated by a local family. Once the tree makes its journey from its current home in Grand Geneva to its new place under the Brunk Pavilion, it will be splendidly dressed for the holidays. The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be on December 3, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. Come and enjoy this family-fun event and get even more filled with Christmas spirit.

Poke Hut, that wonderful little restaurant on Broad Street, is up for sale.
The asking price is $50,000.00.  We are not sure why that price is so high, as the business is apparently not making it, in spite of great tuna and other ‘poke’ fresh raw fish delights.  The price of tuna, especially Ahi tuna, the best grade, has skyrocketed recently, going from less than fifteen dollars a pound to nearly forty dollars a pound (retail, that is).  Fish of other kinds have also gone way up in price, with even lake Perch moving above twenty-five dollars a pound.

The highways around Lake Geneva are opening up for the winter.
One side of Highway 12, running all the way down to Richmond has been closed since early in 2021.  Closed to everything but a single lane each way, that is.  The entire stretch, running from Richmond toward Lake Geneva opened this last weekend, and that stretch is a quality bit of highway work, indeed.  Much like the quality of the Bypass that runs around Lake Geneva.   The other side of that highway should open right after Thanksgiving.  Parts of the long stretch of Highway 50, also one lane each way all year, are opening up as well.  Even with the coming of bad weather, it will be great to have two fully open highway systems feeding Lake Geneva and allowing those there to exit.  The quality of the Highway 50 construction isn’t even close to the great work being done on Highway 12, however.  The police have again come out from all communities that line the distance of Highway 50 from Kenosha back and forth to Lake Geneva.  We counted six patrol cars in that distance this morning at seven a.m. and four at three p.m. on Tuesday.  Slow down and save a couple of hundred bucks, and probably even more on your insurance.
