SURPRISING STUFF
The latest is scams, local and not so local.
Telephone junk. You get a call from a local number you cannot identify. You answer the phone, and there’s a couple of seconds delay. That delay is a computer figuring out you are a real human at the other end. Identified by such you get immediately transferred to a sales agent for some online pharmacy or another scummy thing. How about the latest Sentry Food Operation thing. Someone calls you, somehow accessing and getting control of the Sentry operation’s number. If you answer the call then you get transferred, once again to some crummy outside sales outfit, not Sentry. Sentry, by the way, always leaves a message, whereas the scammers never do. Sentry, when queried, never heard of the scammers and didn’t call. How is it that the scammers and spammers can get hold of ‘The United States,’ Sentry, local numbers, and more as caller I.D. data? How is that legal? When your cell phone is telling you the call you cannot identify, by the way, might be a spam call, believe it and do not answer. If you answer these calls, no matter what you say, then your number is identified as being ‘real’ and is then sold to other spammers and scammers who pay for such live numbers.
The Gingerbread House Walk at Grand Geneva is in full swing.
Grand Geneva has holiday decorations that are good enough to eat, although it’s not recommended or you’ll get banned like our cameraman (like George Belushi Jr.). Each year locals of all ages, from kids to grandparents alike with various skill sets, build a gingerbread wonderland. To qualify for the contest houses had to be built on a board base, could not be more than 24 inches high and 24 inches wide, everything had to be made from edible material, and the entire house was required to be handcrafted. This year, over forty-five entries were received and are on display in the upper level of the resort outside Ristorante Brissago Restaurant. The community is invited to view the gingerbread houses Sundays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The public can vote for a favorite house online and voting is open until Thursday, December 30th, at 5 p.m.
