OUR PLACE
Well, well, well, Aaron Rodgers returns to the Packers for another potentially, hugely successful, and lackluster year.
This quarterback has become fantastically successful at being and making himself, MVP while his team lurches into failure at the end of every season. What is that all about? He is being celebrated upon deciding that the would-be champion Packers can have his exalted presence once more. Tom Brady read or saw about Aaron’s move. Like old prize-fighter champions, and now NFL quarterbacks, Brady must have thought to himself that Aaron was not about to take in all the old-timer adulation circulating across the country.
The last president of the U.S. is a codger and the current one also when it comes to age. Why not quarterbacks? So, for giant salaries and much in the way of crowd support, these old guys hit the turf once more, or more likely guide themselves very carefully over the top of it. Look for another great season for both the Packers and the Bucs until the last few games in the playoffs. They are dead set on proving you don’t have to win to be a winner.
Geneva Lake is of course Lake Geneva’s crown jewel and should be treated as such.
So many locals are all about the lake and its longevity. With the Starry Stonewort NOT eradicated, the Clean Boat Clean Lake Campaign continues. Dredging in the Trinke lagoon is still being discussed but is a long way off, and before this happens, the lake needs to be treated well.
The CD3 Boat Cleaning machine was introduced to the boaters at some boat launch locations last summer and was not received well. The machine is meant to keep boats clean and free of any invasive species from entering or leaving the lake. The goal is to make boaters aware and get the machine used. Lake Geneva also struggles with efficiency and congestion at the city boat launch location on Wriggly Drive.
A plan was presented by the Harbor Master at last week’s meeting that might solve or at least help both issues. Citizen teams, made up of volunteers who love the lake need to be found to help. This could help things move in the right direction but is not expected to be a miracle cure. This is only a preventative measure, when it comes to invasive species, and does not get rid of any already here. The congestion and high traffic issues at the launch cannot be completely fixed and the committee is aware of this due to the lack of space at the launch. However, getting people involved in the community as a team always creates a positive reaction. Lake Geneva’s harbormaster, Steve Russell, has just about a year under his belt and has made some great changes, streamlined a lot of paperwork and lists, and comes up with creative solutions to issues.
