OUR PLACE

There are organizations we all must deal with, from time to time, online, that are simply rotten at customer service.
eBay is possibly the worst.  Don’t bother calling them and certainly don’t ‘chat’ online with them. They are all robots (whether living ones or dead ones) so just move on. If you got screwed, then just take the loss.  It’s better than having to take digitalis in order to prevent a cardiac heart event. Facebook is also pretty hopeless.  They, like most of our other online resources, only want you to go to a webpage that is dead-ended and probably records your identity as a problematic complainer.

You are better off calling a fruit supplier than you are in calling Apple, the world’s largest and most successful company.  You may actually get an apple or two and meet some nice country people with manners if you call the fruit operation.  That’s not so with Apple, nor Microsoft.  Online business is ‘cold as the driven snow’ and, if you don’t think so, then get some customer service numbers and have at it.  Want some good companies to call and actually get help and care, however?   Try U.S. Cellular, Alliant, or We Energy.  They are great and demonstrate care.  Don’t ever call the IRS, the FBI, or any of them.  They take a message now for all incoming calls, and then call you back sometime, maybe in the following year.

Spring is here, the Riviera Fountain is up, the beach is groomed and almost ready.
Spring is the halfway mark between winter and summer and anxiously welcomed by so many after winter has taken its toll on everything and everyone. The cold long winter really isn’t as long as it feels. Spring and Summer are the longest of the four seasons averaging ninety-two to ninety-three days long each, compared to fall and winter which average eighty-eight to eighty-nine days long each. So, the warmer seasons prevail (because of the axial tilt and earth’s ‘wobble’) and that’s good news for everyone living in Wisconsin who live for the return of the warmth and sun.

Construction on Highway 12 begins this week, so plan alternate routes if possible.
The project will provide road surface and foundational improvements between Elkhorn and Lake Geneva. Work is scheduled to start on Monday, March 21st, and continue through the fall of 2023. Work will be done, using single lane closures in some places along with bi-directional traffic utilizing a crossover to the other double lane road running in parallel. Work will begin on the westbound lanes then switch over to the eastbound lanes. Once bridge work begins there will be a full closure of Sheridan Springs Road and Springfield Road for approximately two months each.

There will also be various random overnight ramp closures and alternating Wisconsin 120 interchange ramp closures. During construction and closures the crew will be working on resurfacing nine miles of roadway; US 12 between Wisconsin 50 and Wisconsin 67, structure rehabilitation of several bridges, culverts, new guardrails, signage, and pavement markings within that corridor. This project is projected to take about a year-and-a-half but should be well worth the wait for all those who travel back and forth between Lake Geneva and Elkhorn.
