The City of Burlington decided to rebrand itself and has dropped the slogan ‘Chocolate City U.S.A.’
Using a $40,000 state grant, the city hired a firm based in Illinois to help it rebrand with a new slogan and logo. After four years of working with the city, residents, and businesses through meetings, interviews, and surveys, the new slogan for Burlington is ‘Small Wonders-Big Dreams.’ To celebrate this rebranding the city is asking residents, locals, and visitors alike to think about big dreams that are being thought of or experienced about the City of Burlington and share those at https://www.burlington-wi.gov/555/Rebranding-Draft-Concept and let them know what Burlington Dream Come True stories are and are all about.

Burlington new brandingReflecting on the $40,000 price tag for this recreation of ‘mission,’ by the staff of the Geneva Shore Report did cause some quiet smiling and mirth.   Maybe going from the reality of chocolate to the mythological construct of dreams is more in keeping with times, and after all, the chocolate label was free while the new one costs forty grand.   Mythical dreams but real hard dollars, and better than those dollars not coming out of local pockets.

Fashion Week starts Wednesday, April 27th, and runs through Saturday, April 30th.
Get ready for four great fun-filled days of shopping in twenty-five boutiques and shops in beautiful downtown Lake Geneva. The event is hosted by the Streets of Lake Geneva (from the Business Improvement District) and is complimentary, with the options for upgrades. A complimentary ticket includes shopping, a passport with specials at each location, a chance to enter a name in a drawing for fabulous giveaways, demonstrations and specials, and photos at the selfie station. A twenty-five-dollar upgrade for a Fashion Ticket entitles a purchaser to all the above, plus a Glam Bag, and a meet and greet with Midwest fashion bloggers. A forty-dollar upgrade includes all that and a seat at the Eddie Boutique Fashion Show on Thursday evening.
