THE BRIGHT SIDE

Bump N Brunch.
If you haven’t heard of this event then you are missing something, indeed.  The Ridge.  That place five miles to the west of downtown Lake Geneva on Highway Fifty, not far from Pesche’s and on the same side of the highway, is laying out a morning brunch on Saturdays and Sundays that is the equivalent of what you might get at some island resort, except the price is $21.00 a person (not fifty bucks), and that includes the coffee.  You don’t have to pay for parking either, and there’s plenty of it.  The music is being arranged and presented by the local noted DJ named Woods.  Yogurt station.  Parfait station.   Omelet station.  Gobs of other stuff.  Get over there and take the family.  You cannot serve this kind of breakfast at home for this kind of price.  Watch the GSR video, below, done on Sunday if you want to take a closer look before you go.

BUMP n’ BRUNCH

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has approved the application by Geneva National Resort to install new piers on Lake Como, including the one hundred boat slips to be installed on them.
The DNR issued the decision on Friday, May 6th, after the public hearing that was held back in April. The decision states that a deed restriction must be filed with Walworth County but is not clear what that entails. It also states before construction begins Geneva National must obtain any permits or approvals required for the project by local zoning ordinances and by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The local and federal authorities are responsible for determining if the project complies with those requirements. There will be ten piers each with ten slips and fifty feet between each pier. This has many locals very concerned about the impact on the community and the lake. These concerns were made loud and clear by residents and locals alike at the public hearing in April, yet the project was quickly approved and is moving forward. Even the residents living in Geneva National are not in favor of the project and have voiced concern about the safety issues more boats will certainly bring to the lake and gated community. Residents are also upset that they were never asked about their opinion of such a big project and that no questionnaire was sent out. Others have questioned how the lake would be patrolled with the big uptick in boats, traffic, and people. The negatives of this project outweigh the positives by far, it would seem, and yet this likely boondoggle was given the green light.   It still appears very likely that some homeowners along the shore of Lake Como will be filing lawsuits against the DNR, Geneva National and the township of Geneva, is this all is approved at every level.
