SURPRISING STUFF

There was a public information meeting notice today, set for a meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 1st, at 4 p.m. through 6 p.m., at Lake Geneva City Hall in the upstairs atrium.
Lake Geneva has some changes in a couple of roads of interest coming soon. Street improvement projects are in the works for Cook Street and Wrigley Drive, along with Pine Tree Lane and Mariane Terrace. The Cook and Wrigley project is focused on surface improvements to the pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and storm and sewer drainage.  The Pine Tree Lane and Mariane Terrace project involves the replacement of pavement, storm and sewer improvements, and water main replacements, including laterals. The City of Lake Geneva and its engineering consultants at MSA (the general contractor) are in the process of developing plans for both areas.

Construction is uncertain in dates, as of yet, but could start as soon as the fall of 2022 or spring of 2023. The City of Lake Geneva and MSA Professional Services are hosting a public informational meeting to give the residents and city officials a better understanding of the projects. This is an informational and educational meeting for city officials and the public, no action will be taken.

How is America going to get control of its television advertising and news?
In the late ’60s and early ’70s, the owners of television transmission (and today there are only seven) figured out that just about anything could be transmitted over the air, and in figuring that out they also went to work to make sure there really are almost no rules about what is transmitted.  The second thing they found out was that they had the ‘voice,’ and there was no counter-voice or ability for any of the talked to and videoed public to speak back.

The result today, as we sit before our televisions, is to be bombarded by lying advertisers and lying politically oriented organizations.  Turn on the T.V. and watch the latest approved scams.  How about the solar roof scam?  Solar for basically free is the presentation.  In reality, the people that have been taken advantage of must pay about $26,000 for the system, $13,000 for the battery pack, and then enjoy about ten percent savings on their electricity bills if all goes according to plan.  In other words, it’s not free at all.  There’s some marginal and over-inflated tax credit (ending in 2024) and that’s it, and then there’s never going to be a recovery of much of anything.  Don’t even bring up the fact that the system will have to be replaced every once in a while, like a regular roof.

How about Medicare and those scams?  Give up your Part B portion of Medicare, never to be allowed to get it back, and you get a plan that supposedly costs less and gives you more.  Nope, you lose the benefits you had and those are replaced by ‘advantaged’ plans where you pay a few bucks less but get almost nothing. Why are these legal?  Because they were designed to be.  The airways are filled with blatant lies, and most of those advertising lies are directed at older rural people.

Is it a shame?  Absolutely, and it’s literally killing some of those people.

How about, in finality here in this article, the absolute lying by the media owners.  For so many years these owners have portrayed their reporters and editors as left-wing liberals while all the time all the media owners are right-wing republicans?  There is no chance,  none at all, that any of the mass media is liberal, as the ownership controls everything.  Every word.  If something appears liberal in the news it is a cover to allow more credibility to the right-wing.  So, no, there are going to be no laws outlawing or limiting guns.  That’s poppycock because the right-wing loves guns and makes a fortune foisting them off on the general public.  They’ll go after mandatory background checks which they know are virtually meaningless when people can go to a gun show right on the outskirts of Delavan (as well as thousands of other places in the country) attend a gun show, present no identification, and then buy any gun that can be sold to them with unlimited ammunition.

That this stuff is being done to the public on purpose and for money is a travesty, but it is the way it is.  That a kid, nine days after his 18th birthday, could quite legally walk into an advertised gun store, buy two multi-thousand-dollar assault weapons plus 1600 rounds of ammunition, and then go kill a bunch of kids without any red flags being raised is the result.  The ownership of the media has, unfortunately, become quite pleasingly evil, and the majority of the public must continue to accept and live with it (oh, except for uselessly crying out into the night).
