THE BRIGHT SIDE

First Friday of the month late night shopping in downtown Lake Geneva is back.
This is a reoccurring event that the Business Improvement District has tried in the past. The idea is to set aside the first Friday of every month for a night of shopping, socializing, and eating in the downtown district. The ‘Open Late Fridays’ program started off slow, without a lot of participation from businesses and patrons. The plan was to get awareness out and have the event grow each week, as the retail shops and restaurants were encouraged to have a little extra something going on in-store to help entice shoppers. The event was put on hold during the winter months and is now back for its second go around. This Friday, June 3rd, from 10 a.m., through 8 p.m., enjoy a late-night of shopping in downtown Lake Geneva. This is a great time for locals to get out and enjoy Lake Geneva’s unique shops, as traffic usually lessens, and parking becomes more available in the early evening hours. Let’s help this great idea become a regular thing.  Support the small businesses of downtown Lake Geneva.

The Elkhorn Food Pantry, just like about everything else these days, is going online.
Everything else has gone online, prompting the food panty to do so as well. The Elkhorn Food Pantry is the first one in the county to go online because the employees and volunteers wanted to make their services available to more people, especially the ones unable to get to the pantry during regular hours, so they added an online ordering system. Access to the food pantry building is still limited, due to the virus, so it will cut down on the number of people accessing the building and their time spent inside. The volunteers are excited about the new opportunities in helping more people in the community while also having more flexibility in putting orders together. As they get more familiar with the system, they will offer more pick-up times so as of now the hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Online ordering is elkhornfoodpantry.com. Then hit the yellow button that reads ‘click for grocery list’ to place your order. If it is your first time using the pantry, you must stop in and register. Hopefully, more pantries are able to offer these services in the near future.
