THE BRIGHT SIDE
What about the Regional News and the Tourism Commission grants?
Get ready for the 2nd Annual Taco Fest in Lake Geneva. The event will be held at the Lake Geneva House of Music festival grounds just outside Lake Geneva on Highway H. There will be a variety of tacos, and other wonderful Mexican dishes and drinks. Live entertainment will be happening throughout the weekend, art from local artists, mariachi bands, and more. The festival will be Friday, September 9th, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and Saturday, September 10th, through Sunday, September 11th, opening at 11 a.m. both days and closing at 10 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Daily tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids or a purchase of a $ 20-weekend pass for adults and $10 for kids. These fests the Regional News puts on no longer need to be subsidized by the City of Lake Geneva. The city leadership must give the local paper its editorial privilege back and stop paying for stuff that newspapers are not in business to do.
The City of Lake Geneva Avian Committee and Geneva Lake Museum invites everyone to the annual Swift Night Out.
This free event is Thursday, September 8th, from 5:30 p.m. until dusk. Visitors will be able to enjoy an amazing show put on by nature, as thousands of Chimney Swift’s circle, swoop, and show off their acrobatic skills while flying into the museum chimney. This happens every year in early September as the swifts gather in large groups to begin their fall migration to South America. This year’s events start at 5:30 p.m., with food trucks offering food for purchase, and at 6:30 there will be a special bird program, featuring an eagle and other raptors. The main event will start around 7:30 p.m., as the Chimney Swifts gather by the thousands and enter the museum’s chimney. Visitors will learn why the chimneys are so important for the swifts. This is a free event and it’s important not to forget a camera (or cell smartphone) to capture this stunning natural phenomenon.
