OUR PLACE
Chief Michael Rasmussen submitted his letter of retirement at last week’s police and fire commission meeting, and it was formally and unanimously accepted.
Technically, Mike Rasmussen will be chief for the next couple of months but will be enjoying his built-up vacation time so will still be carried on the books as chief. Chief Rasmussen will be very much missed, as he served the community, the city, and the officers with nothing but class, integrity, and honor. The Lake Geneva Police and Fire Commissioners were pleased to present him with a plaque honoring him and gifting him his service handgun for the price of $1.00. Rasmussen is retiring after thirty-one years in law enforcement.
The hiring of a new chief has come to a successful conclusion and Lieutenant Ed Gritzner will be taking over as chief when Mike’s retirement time expires. Lieutenant Gritzner was well chosen by the commissioners, as he is supremely qualified and serves with the leadership and integrity Lake Geneva Mike Rasmussen trained to exhibit.
Congratulations to Mike Rasmussen on his retirement and congratulations to Chief Ed Gritzner on his promotion to the position of Lake Geneva Chief of Police.
