The BID (Business Improvement District) plans to have an extraordinary Veteran’s Day celebration is cancelled.
The Treasurer of the BID indicated that there is insufficient funding for this special event, although the BID currently is 100,000 dollars in the black for the year.  What happened is currently anybody’s guess, as nobody at the BID wants to go public with any problems.  The Octoberfest celebration held recently was also a big bust, the five-dollar fee to get in and the fences around the event driving everyone but serious beer drinkers off.  That was a BID event.  The beer provider and wine provider did just great, but the community didn’t.

What’s going on with the BID and what’s likely for the future to hold?  The budget for the BID’s coming year was submitted to the city, apparently without a board vote, according to the BID board president.  That funding had nothing it for the event’s coordinator. What’s going to happen to Kristina?

The Big Bundle Up Campaign hosted by Visit Lake Geneva is back for the 2022 season.
The annual campaign collects new and gently used winter clothing and items to be donated to those in need who are living in our local communities. Everything from hats, gloves, coats, boots, snow pants, sweaters, and scarves are needed in all sizes, for children, men, and women. The campaign runs from now through January 15th, and residents may drop off all donations at the Visitor’s Center located at 201 Wrigley Drive in downtown Lake Geneva. Donations are accepted daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The items will be given to the United Way of Walworth County to distribute to local charities.  Volunteers will hand out to those local citizens who have an urgent need for the warm clothing.
