THE BRIGHT SIDE
Christmas will be celebrated in almost every household around the world on Sunday of this week.
Family and friends will all gather to celebrate the holiday, and most will commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, which is how the Christmas celebration began. Christmas is all about love, happiness, giving, and so much more. Christmas traditions bond family and friends closer, it gives kids a sense of belonging, shapes character, and creates memories that will last a lifetime. Of course, very much goes into preparing for the day, with decorations and Christmas Trees, gift exchanging, feasts, and sweets galore, and the arrival of Santa Claus. However, people may celebrate, may they do so with hearts full of love and warmth. Merry Christmas to one and all during this great time.
A $451 million solar and battery project is moving forward in southern Wisconsin.
This is one of the attempts, in a series of developments, from utilities working to meet goals to cut carbon emissions. Construction of the battery facility began earlier this year and is expected to be done by the end of 2024. The solar center is under construction on 2,000 acres in Rock and Walworth Counties. It will feature 850,000 solar panels that will generate enough energy to power about 75,000 homes with over 75 megawatts of battery storage. Last week, the state Public Service Commission unanimously approved Wisconsin Public Service’s purchase of the Darien Solar Energy Center. As part of its approval, the Public Service Commission will require WEC Energy Group (better known as WE Energy) to provide updates on efforts to hire Wisconsin-based construction laborers at the project site. The Darien Solar Energy Center’s ownership will be split between WEC Energy Group and Madison Gas and Electric. WEC will own 90 percent of the project, while Madison Gas and Electric will own 10 percent.
