THE BRIGHT SIDE
Nancy Douglass, from 96.1 On the Lake, is the new force driving Lake Geneva’s only radio station.
She’s an uncommon woman, possessing a melodious voice while also having a gifted speaking ability. Her early morning show on Sunday mornings (8:00 am, to 9:00 am) is a delight to listen to, as long as your political leanings are pretty far to the right. But the woman herself, the new force behind the station is smart, eager, and excited about making the station even more successful. The music has changed.
Take note. It’s no longer the proto-modern stuff from before. The music venue is much broader and crosses many decades in material. Saturdays are particularly great days to listen. Nancy spoke at the last city council meeting, doing a great job of revealing that she does not support the current parking nightmare rate increases. She mentioned the three current ‘voices’ of media available to those who live in and around Lake Geneva, and those were 96.1, The Lake Geneva Regional News and The Geneva Shore Report, each of those as different as seasons in the year, but all three linked together giving citizens, taxpayers, business owners and even visitors, a great wealth of information other small communities certainly, for the most part, lack today. Congratulations Nancy on acquiring the station and we look forward to great things happening as a result.
Next Door Pub Lakeside is now open.
The very famous Next-Door Pub on Interchange N now has a second location. The original location always has a wait and is a favorite hangout of many locals. The new location at W4118 Lakeshore Drive in Como could be a great place for the locals to hide when the original location is overtaken with visitors. Next Door Pub Lakeside has finished Phase 1 of its build meaning only the bar is open. The kitchen and outdoor patio will be completed in Phase II. The owners were waiting for the necessary permits and supplies to be able to continue with the kitchen, which is now underway. Phase II will also address handicap accessibility, and dogs will be allowed on the patio once it is completed. We look forward to seeing the finished product and more great food in the near future.
