OUR PLACE

The Friends of Hillmoor.
This group is not part of the ad hoc committee thrown together to come up with ideas about what to do with the Hillmoor property.  That committee is really all about the money, although none of the members or the leadership are discussing the money.  If there’s to be a golf course then where’s the million dollars a hole that it will take, on average, to rebuild it, and then what of the repayment through fees and whatnot?

If the YMCA is going to be put on that property, then where’s the money going to come from to build the facility and parking lot?  Not to mention, how much money and also the lending or giving part of the Hillmoor land for its placement and use.

The Friends of Hillmoor, a group that was organized several years ago, mostly set up to stop the development that was being planned for the then privately owned land, is also considering what might be done to maximize the property’s use for the citizen’s paying the bills for its ownership and whatever limited development that might be done.  The Friends are not really discussing a key subject.  Who or what is going to act as the moderating and leading authority to operate the land, no matter what its use is put to.

A group, not very dissimilar to the Friends, took over the Yerkes Observatory and also the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy in Williams Bay, quite successfully.  Is that to be part of the future role of the Friends?  If it isn’t then why is this group still meeting, like it did last week?  Mayor Mayor is the head of Friends, just as she’s the titular head of the ad hoc committee, the ad hoc parking committee, and just about everything else she touches.
