LITTLE GEMS
There’s no gambling going on in and around the City of Lake Geneva.
This is the feedback the Geneva Shore Report has been getting all over the place ever since the newspaper ran a series of exposes about the allegedly illegal gambling occurring at The Next Door Pub, Thumbs Up, Champs, Hogs and Kisses and Fat Cats. Although the Care Bear has been noticeably not seen about town anywhere since the Super Bowl mess, the ‘non-gambling’ establishments had to ‘suffer’ through, there has been one significant change to what’s happening inside and out at the five restaurants/bars/midnight dives that is of significance.
Fat Cats sold and Hogs and Kisses is up for sale. That’s two out of the five. The GSR has also heard nothing more from the Tavern League that so wanted to have GSR staff attend in order to be shot at, or worse…so to speak. Some of these businesses have figured out, the GSR staff believes, that having a very successful operation, like all of these have been, might be preferable to having the businesses investigated by state, local or even federal authorities for criminal participation or worse.
The GSR is not about getting rid of gambling or forcing businesses to sell, but it is all about how everyone needs to function on a level playing field and, at least, roughly follow the same rules and codes of conduct.
