SURPRISING STUFF
The bizarre and silent and bi-furcated nature of the Lake Geneva City Leadership when it comes to employee parking.
So far, in one council meeting after another, the idea of the city participating in a plan to alleviate the expense, distance and difficulty in whether of employees getting to their jobs in downtown Lake Geneva have been either shot down or ignored. The Business Improvement District board has been alternatively snubbed and then downright threatened over this issue. But there’s a ray of sunshine in this lowly poor performance on the part of that city leadership.
It seems that city employees and elected officials have a private parking lot that runs along the alley to the south of the municipal building! The employees of the city, including elected officials can park along that stretch all they want for as long as they want, and it’s exclusive to them…oh sorry, not.
It seems that the Bottle Shop ownership at the corner, across from where the museum sits and Main Street passes by to the south, gets two of those spaces. Free of charge, no matter what the day or hour. Also, there’s a quiet agreement, allegedly, as the co-owner of the spaces to the west of the building won’t grant an interview, employees and others ‘connected’ can park in those slots and they don’t get ticketed either.
Finally, there’s the free lot to the north of the building where anyone can park for free. Are you getting the message here?
This current leadership, possibly only being moderated by the two city council members who were currently elected in April, doesn’t give one damn about the “real” employees in this city but sure as hell take care of ‘their own’ and themselves.
