LITTLE GEMS

The Town of Walworth fights for its existence.
Is “Snowdeen,” (as in; cold as the driven snow) set things up so they can slide in a plan that they’ve held in reserve, knowing full well that the 400-home monster building program on postage stamp lots was never going to fly?  The plan commission in the town voted the development down by 4-1.  It’s up for board of governor’s consideration on the 23rd of May.

It will likely be voted down there.  Shodeen will have a choice, either appeal to the county board or resubmit a more acceptable plan.  And there’s the rub.

A likely new fallback plan of two hundred, or so, homes may slide in with a small tsunami of relief from the community, as planned all along.  The games developers play in getting developments approved are endless and seldom have much at all to do with growing a healthier community.  The Town of Walworth ought to go ahead and allow more development but start charging about forty thousand dollars a home for impact fees.  Single owner, single builder homes would be excluded, of course.
