Labor Day is almost here.
Labor Day traditionally began to celebrate Americans who labor. Hardworking Americans all over the country will be taking the day to celebrate each other and a day off with loved ones in so many different ways. Backyard barbeques, weekend getaways, and so many fun local events are just a few of the ways to celebrate. This is a bittersweet time for many. With summer fun coming to an end the beautiful fall weather is inviting. This is also when families are back to the grind, juggling work, school, extra-curricular activities, clubs, and sports which all comes with back to school. Take a moment to enjoy and relax on this extended holiday weekend.
Sadly, Bob Barker, an iconic game show host has passed away.
Barker died of natural causes at his longtime Hollywood Hills home. He hosted CBS’s The Price Is Right, the longest-running game show in television history, from 1972 to 2007. In an industry where trendiness beats reliability, Barker was unusual in that he did one thing and he did it very well, for decades. He wasn’t worried about quantity but focused on quality. Barker retired from “The Price Is Right” in June 2007. During his 35 years as host, he missed only one taping of four episodes. Barker won 18 Daytime Emmys, as well as a Daytime Emmy Award for lifetime achievement in 1999. In early 2004, he was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. Guinness World Records twice named him TV’s Most Durable Performer.
Not so surprising.
Another motorcyclist died at ‘Dead Man’s Curve’ on South Lake Shore drive. That curve is the downward curving part of the highway that moves up or down, depending upon whether a vehicle is moving north or south, right to the south of Big Foot Beach. The skid marks are still there today but the cycle, the victim and the car were taken away. The Geneva Shore Report wrote about the danger of this particular area two years ago, when Symphony Bay was finishing its beach access facility for those inland property owners in a ‘keyhole’ manner.
Too many vehicles using that road create a problem, when other vehicles are entering or leaving either the restaurant located there or the Symphony Bay facility. There will be more, as Symphony Bay has approval for its next part of the monster ‘Sun City West’ kind of little box living places along Edwards Boulevard.
