The Green Bay Packers beat the tar out of the reigning Super Bowl Champions!
The Kansas City Chiefs got hammered by the offense and held in check by the Packer defense. The Packers played at home in Green Bay with frigid temperatures, sporadic bursts of wind, and some snow flurries falling from the open sky above Lambeau Field. The star of the game was quarterback Jordan Love whose leadership made sure the Packers were never trailing during the game. As with the game played against the Lions last week, Love threw a touchdown only moments into the first quarter and never allowed the team to be behind in scoring. The Packers improved to 6-6 with the win, their third straight, as the Chiefs fell to 8-4. Kansas City cut Green Bay’s lead down to two points after a Noah Gray touchdown early in the fourth quarter but failed to capitalize on their next drives. Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon picked off a throw by Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes with 5:14 remaining. Green Bay kicker Anders Carlson also hit two field goals in the fourth quarter, including a game-defining 48-yarder that gave the Packers the 27-19 lead with only 1:09 left on the clock. Packers quarterback Jordan Love finished with three touchdown passes and zero interceptions in Sunday’s win, his second straight three-TD, 0-INT game, and fourth this season.
The Packers’ win over the Chiefs was their 16th straight in December, the longest active streak in the NFL and the longest overall since the Chargers won 18 straight December games from 2006-09. Green Bay has gone 4-1 to climb back to .500 and into the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoff standings.
Taylor Swift attended the game, flying in on her private jet with an entourage. A television reporter attempted to interview her as she was leaving the stadium but Swift swiftly sidestepped her and wouldn’t answer any questions.
