The library mess has not even begun to be cleaned up.
What’s going on there? Well, the Lake Geneva Library Foundation board remains, for almost all its members, a confidential organization, with privacy for its members for no good reason whatever the Geneva Shore Report staff believes. What’s going on there since the members of the board are not only secret but so is the dissemination of the funding.
Supposedly, since the people who paid in about three hundred thousand dollars over the years (hereafter referred to as the ‘principal’) can count (those few that are still living) on the fact that the principal is secure. That’s even though the information coming out of the foundation, tiny and silent as it is, has this foundation ‘dissolving.’ If it’s dissolving, then what of the original $300,000 in principle? The money made over the years (hereafter referred to as the ‘interest’ is supposed to have come in at about $900,000. That money was supposedly distributed to the YMCA, the children’s museum (which does not currently exist except as a dream), and the library itself.
Why the “Y” you might ask? People are being helped financially to work out and play games. Why not the free medical clinic in Elkhorn? Why not the free women’s clinic in Delavan? And so many more starving 501c (3) non-profits doing charitable work? Why all this secrecy, especially since the conjectured amounts of money are so large?
Don’t call the library to ask about any of this. You’ll likely get the same answer that the GSR got. It’s “none of their business.” That’s a direct quote.
