THE BRIGHT SIDE

Election day reminder.
The spring election is coming up fast and there’s a lot of important items on the ballot. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, is the day. Voters need to bring a photo ID to receive a ballot, if you do not have one you can get a voting ID from the motor vehicle department. Voters must be registered and can get the form online at the City of Lake Geneva Website. Absentee ballots can also be found there. Of course, City Hall is open to all in-person advising and to answer any questions.

Absentee ballots were sent out on March 12th and the last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to them is March 28th. March 19th through March 29. On weekdays only there will be in-office absentee voting. April 1st there will be no voting or registering to vote and on Tuesday, April 2nd, the polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. With the election coming there have been many campaign signs planted around the town.

The local candidates are incumbent Charlene Klein running against Todd Krause for Lake Geneva Mayor, District 1 alderperson is incumbent Joan Yunker running against Sherri Ames, District 2 is incumbent Mary Jo Fesenmaier running against Kyle Cary, District 3 are two newbies: Joel Hoiland and Pamela Wilkinson.  District 4 has incumbent Cynthia Yager running against Cathy Stoodley.

There are also referendum questions to be voted on concerning the Lake Geneva Schools. The referendum questions are for both districts and are a big deal. Schools all over the state, as well as the nation, are hurting financially. There will be a vital open debate between the current mayor and her challenger Todd Krause, to be held at the Lake Geneva city hall on Wednesday, March 20, at 6:p.m. The meeting will be kicked off by Peter Wilson, the head of the school district, and moderated by Adam St. Marie
