The Milwaukee Brewers have been off to a hot start, maintaining first place in the NL Central.
That’s largely due to the rookies that have stepped up and have helped keep the team in first place. Despite that, it seems that their pitching rotation is falling apart day after day as injuries plague them. Injuries have left a handful of pitchers on different injury lists, creating a huge struggle for the team as we head into the summer. Things are looking up as Tobias Myers has stepped up to the pitcher’s mound. Rookie Tobias Myers continued his terrific June by winning his fourth straight start and Blake Perkins highlighted a five-run second inning with a two-run single as the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Sunday to avoid a four-game sweep. Myers (5-2) held the Padres to one run and five hits in five innings, with three strikeouts and no walks. He allowed one or no earned runs for the fourth time in his June starts. Heading into the 2024 season, people were a little hesitant to trust the Brewers’ starting pitching.

With Corbin Burnes being traded to the Baltimore Orioles, Adrian Houser going to the New York Mets, and Brandon Woodruff being placed on the injury list for the entire year, it was slim pickings as far as who would fill those spots. The Brewers have tried to get 22-year-old Carlos Rodriguez to fill some shoes, but the young pitcher has struggled in his first three starts. We’re still about a month out from the July 30 trade deadline, however, the team needs to start looking at who could be a viable option to try and trade for to boost starting pitching. In the meantime, let’s hope that Myers keeps up the good work and continues to pitch as he has been this past month.
