OUR PLACE

Lake Geneva has a new ‘interim’ city administrator, and his name is David De Angelis.
GSR reporters already heard one great comment about this affable and very charming man. A woman, having met him earlier, said: “How did Lake Geneva find someone almost exactly like Tim Waltz’? The position of city administrator is the most powerful leader in the city, except for the appointment of commission and committee members and breaking a tie should the city council (with eight members) end up with a tie vote. Those powers belong to the mayor alone, although the council still has to approve of his appointments. David has experience as both a full-time elected mayor for the City of Muskego for nine years as well as the Village Manager for Elm Grove for almost 21 years. In both communities, he was an innovator for process change and further professionalization of the organizations while creating positive workplace collaborative improvements and collegial work environments. This was done both in the high-growth 1990s and the fiscally challenging 2000s until today. Maybe, if coaxed a bit, he could get O’Donoghue’s Irish Pub, currently located in Elm Grove, a village David also ran, to open up a place on Maine and Broad Streets and replace some of this city has in that department but with much classier appearances and traditions.

Online registration is available for returning students at Lake Geneva School. Badger and the Joint #1 Schools require online enrolment.

The online portion of registration helps streamline the tasks of schedules, fees, and any other forms needed. Having all this done ahead makes the August open house event which is held annually at each of the Lake Geneva Schools more efficient. If you do not have access to a computer, reach out to children and students who have them and know how to operate them. School and computer use will be available there or you may do some of the tasks in person at the school office. Any questions about the registration process can be answered at the district office at 262-348-1000. School supply lists are available online line. Star Center, Central-Denison, and Eastview Elementary Schools along with Lake Geneva Middle School have their specific lists on the Lake Geneva Schools Facebook page.

Lake Geneva Schools want all kids to start the school year off right so if fulfilling the list is challenging help is available. Check out the Facebook post on Lake Geneva Schools Facebook and apply to have supplies delivered to your door.
