LIVING HERE

Maxwell Street Days is this weekend.
This Friday through Sunday, August 23rd through the 26th is all about shopping downtown Lake Geneva. The downtown businesses will have the sidewalks filled with unique items at fabulous prices. This is an annual tradition in Lake Geneva and a very popular shopping event. So many locals and visitors venture downtown and shop at their favorite shops. It’s a great time to pick up a couple of unique back-to-school items, start some Christmas shopping, or just grab a few things you’ve been eyeing up. The retail shops start the deals off at a great discount but as the weekend continues more discounts are sometimes offered. Make sure to take a stroll through downtown Lake Geneva and check out the deals.

Political signs are rising up in yards, windows and in front of businesses.
If it’s a business that has a sign, particularly in this very polarized political time, then rethink its positioning of it. It would be much better to put that sign, no matter what is on it regarding support for either Trump or Harris, in your front yard. Business displays will likely cause a great percentage of people who might otherwise enter the establishment to simply not enter. What business can afford to lose about half its customers between now and the elections? People who merely stop, look, and then walk on by are not going to report back to tell the business owner or manager why they are not coming in. That’s the job of the GSR.  Leave political signs or any indication of political support out of business.
