THE BRIGHT SIDE

VISIT Lake Geneva is once again proud to host the Lake Geneva Bundle Up, serving local communities.
This is an annual campaign that collects new and gently used winter clothing items for donation back to the local community. This year, Visit Lake Geneva will work with two local non-profit partners that serve hundreds of individuals and families throughout Walworth County, Circle of Friends and Geneva Lakes Family YMCA. Donated items will be distributed through local community service organizations, schools, and other agencies as well as community shopping events for those in need. This year VISIT is also partnering with the Lake Geneva YMCA for their ‘5 Things’ campaign to help local elementary students.

The students need these ‘5 things’ to go outside for recess during the colder months. They include boots, waterproof gloves/mittens, a hat, snow pants, and a coat or jacket. Residents are invited to drop off new and gently used coats, snow pants, sweaters, hats, mittens, gloves, boots, and other warm clothing items starting now through December 30, 2024, at one of three collection sites:

  • Lake Geneva Visitor Information Center, 201 Wrigley Dr., Lake Geneva, open daily 10 am-5 pm.
  • Circle of Friends, 630 E. Court St., Elkhorn, open Mon-Sat, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Geneva Lakes YMCA, 203 S. Wells St., Lake Geneva, open Mon-Fri 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sat 6 am-2 pm, Sun 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All sizes from child through adult are needed but there is an urgent need for winter clothing for elementary-age students (size 3T – Youth XL) so they can be prepared before the weather turns cold. There are two ways to give to this year’s Lake Geneva Bundle Up: individual winter items in any size or a bundle of “All 5 Things” for school children. The YMCA’s winter gear closet focuses on the five items elementary students are required to have to play outside at recess. All ‘5 Things’ bundles should include items of the same size.
