LIVING HERE

There is little doubt now.
Short-term rentals are about to be handed the ‘freedom’ to pretty much do what they want under the current and coming political environment.  The final details are being worked out by the city council before there will be an overwhelming vote to support what the owners want. As the country eases into change it must face the fact that freedom, as Russia learned when the Soviet Union fell, is also the freedom to fail and starve as well as succeed so everyone should be aware that behavior is going to change for everyone, and this is one of the areas that will be so affected. The public voted and democracy has come to the USA, as Leonard Cohen’s song lyrics revealed years ago.

The giving season is here, and Lake Geneva as always is participating.
The Lake Geneva Police Department Community Outreach Committee teamed up with Christmas for Kids. Christmas for Kids is a church program out of Elkhorn. The Wilderness Episcopal Church has generously been providing kids with gifts for seventeen years. The families that benefit from this Christmas program are from all over Walworth County. The Christmas bin is in the lobby of the Lake Geneva Police Department and is ready for donations. Almost everything is accepted including gift cards of any kind, books, games, clothing items, household essentials, and food for holiday baskets.

Donations are being collected now through November 20th. All items must be new and unwrapped, for a detailed list go to the City of Lake Geneva Police Department’s Facebook page. The holiday season is upon us so now is the time to give from the heart.

Visit Lake Geneva is organizing the Big Bundle Up once again this year.
Collections of all warm winter clothing are being accepted at the Visitors Center on Wrigley Drive in Lake Geneva. The Big Bundle Up campaign is an annual event that collects new and gently used winter clothing items. The donations are given to a different local organization that distributes the items to those in need. Residents are encouraged to drop off donations to warm up the people of Walworth County. Donations are being accepted now through December 31st.
