THE TROUBLES
In the 1990s, a period of unofficial civil war occurred between the overseeing British and the natives living in Ireland. That time, costing the lives of thousands was called ‘The Troubles,’ and the soft lack of a description quite possibly suits what will happen across the United States. Like the British of the time, the beaten down, downtrodden, and ruled Irish citizens suffered both grief and deeply buried outrage about having their lives run by what they considered outsiders of the worst sort. At the time of the Troubles, the population of Ireland was only about four million. Four thousand would die during the troubles over the next ten years. The U.S. has 350 million people inside its borders. It’s easy to do the math, should something like the troubles come to the U.S. shores. Four hundred thousand is close to the potential number but that’s merely conjecture.
Right now, in the time that awaits everyone in the country, a declared but unlikely majority of citizens is suffering through and with a felling of intense superiority, both in supposed elective results and in police and military power. The police and military forces by and large are totally with the republicans about to take over the country. Those two groups of entities seem overpowering until history is studied about what’s happened around the world. Vietnam happened and the vaunted U.S. military fought to a losing standstill. Afghanistan happened and both the huge Soviet war machine and the following United States even more powerful military were both defeated in the end and left with shame heaped upon them. There is no chance at all that a hugely inflamed public in the U.S. can be stopped if it makes up its mind to disregard all rules and laws to return to being ruled by not the U.S. Constitution but the much more forgiving and violent Declaration of Independence that truly was the document that began the rise of America to be the penultimate force not just in the world but for all time up to the current period in the world.
The talk lately, by the current nominee to head up the FBI, is all about total violations of the First Amendment and just about every other part of the Constitution A brain-worm affected Secretary of the country’s health is a famed anti-vaxxer so the nation that lived in terror during the forties and fifties of having the children become permanently crippled for life will likely return, along with the murderous scourges of measles, mumps and whooping cough. The inexperienced congresswoman nominated to be head of all intelligence agencies has an I.Q. of eighty-eight, twelve points under the national average, and never worked an hour of intelligence work in her life. Another nominee is a moronic woman who was the wife of the leader of the World Wrestling Federation.
Regardless of the candidate, it’s not going to be the candidate himself that brings the nation not to its knees, but to its feet for the first time since the American Revolution. It may start with short-term rentals in the spring. It may start over the closing of schools or the elimination of the energy department and waves of outages, or it may start with something as simple as a traffic accident. The ignition trigger for revolution can be minor but the insurgency just grows and grows. We must all work to prevent that or a generation or more of all of us will go missing.
It’s almost Christmas and there’s the New Testament to guide all of us through if people will simply read and apply what’s there. God allowed for evil in His creation but He has always stated and repeated that love and goodness would prevail Head up and on into the fray we all proceed.
