THE DEADLY PREVENTIVE STRIKE

Preventative military and economic strikes have had limited success when used by former forces, and present ones when attempting to limit future damage from an ally or an adversary, either of those being assumed or even doubted in loyalty and action.  The United States invaded Panama to get rid of Noriega and take his money.  It did both and then came home, leaving Panama with no military of its own and quite defenseless against any potential adversary without the U.S. protecting it.  That preventive strike could be considered a success.  The Japanese preventively struck Pearl Harbor and then went on months later to do the same in the Philippines.  The failure of what happened because of those preventive strikes has reverberated around the world ever since.

The Spartans preventively hit Athens and the strike was a success, however, both nation-states disappeared into obscurity not too many years later both weakened to the point of complete failure.  Much more recently, Israel, noted for its use of the preventive strikes used one to go after Lebanon, bringing war to those two countries.  The entire Mideast survives following many preventive strikes made on its member country’s lands and peoples.

The incoming President of the United States has spoken openly about using the giant U.S. military and economy, to attack both Canada and Greenland and force the latter into economic submission (to also accept U.S. statehood) and the former to surrender to U.S. military forces.  Greenland is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark and also a signer of the NATO pact (the NATO pact’s most powerful element is that any attack on one NATO signer and the organization considers that an attack on them…all of them, which is 32!).  The five countries so far threatened by statements made by the incoming leader of America are Greenland, Denmark, Canada, Mexico, and Panama.  This article is not about the announced intent by Donald Trump to go after these “properties,” as he’s termed them.  This article is about what happens when countries make statements of high threat to other countries.

Preventive strikes do not have to be made from the strong to the weak, as they recently were by Israel or by Great Britain in Ireland.  The weak can also strike.  What might be keeping Canada or Denmark from striking the U.S. first after such bellicose and deliberate threats?  Canada has a hundred thousand men under arms.  Mexico had half a million or more.  Mexico also has the third largest Navy in the Americas, behind the U.S. and Brazil.  Denmark has about another hundred thousand underarms and quite sophisticated naval and air force forces, including the F35 fighters made in the USA.

It’s not likely that any of these countries will strike the U.S.  It is much more likely that they will begin to strengthen their military forces, not to face off with the U.S. in defending some country like Ukraine or Israel or more, but to face the U.S. directly in future warfare.  To have nations so strong and so allied with the U.S. for so many years is too dangerous in too many ways to list them all in this article.  The stupidity of what’s happened cannot be overstated nor the fact the leadership of the United States of America is openly considering the conquest of what were once its best friends.  The refrain coming in from all over, from the sold-out mass media, from Republicans of every stripe is the same.

Trump is merely saying those things as negotiating tools, and he has no intent at all in doing them or committing the U.S. to war in any way.  Garbage!  Words have meaning and have a great impact.  Things can be said that cannot be taken back.  Actions can result in things that are not easy to calculate.  Borders can be closed to Americans.  Trade with the U.S. can be stopped in its tracks.  The NATO nations, other than the U.S. (rapidly becoming a very damaged and dangerous pariah), can throw in with Russia and China easily because of one word.  That word is fear.  How can the most responsible, the freest, the most wealthy, and the most powerful country on earth, having seen the movies of Star Wars, make itself into not the rebels fighting for all the right things, but into the Imperium, corrupt, thieving, murdering and threatening buffoons of great danger and even insanity?

That question will be answered by historians in the future if any of them are alive to make such determinations.  This last election was touted to be an election about saving the democracy of the United States.  That battle has been fought and is over.  This new battle, which begins on the 21st of January, not more than a few days from when you read this, is for the survival of the country at all.  The U.S., despite its overwhelming financial and military power, cannot fight the whole world out there and win.  It can survive to be slowly and painfully picked apart by former friends who act to enrich themselves by taking advantage of America’s coming troubles and picking through the debris like so many current U.S. citizens do in thrift shops and low-level auctions across the land.

The communities around Geneva Lake must unite together.  The GLA should be rebirthed and take over responsibility for the lake community’s survival and comfort if things turn really bad.  Walworth County should begin to form itself into a state of its own and be as independent as possible in these few determinant years ahead.  The great police forces, long established, the great court system, the great independent cities, towns, and townships should become much more critically sensitive to one another and encourage leadership from this country.  The coming troubles in the USA are not going to be Republican or Democratic…. they are going to be human.  Humans have grown, thrived, and survived by pulling together in times of need, disaster, and trouble.  How will you, a citizen reading this know when that time is here?  You won’t have to be told.  It will happen to you!
