Press Release:
Darien Fire/EMS was dispatched Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 16:45 hours for a report of a structure fire with flames and smoke visible at N2886 North Rd in the Township of Darien. Simultaneously, an automatic mutual aid response was dispatched from Sharon, the City of Delavan, and the Town of Delavan. On arrival, Darien Fire/EMS reported a fully engulfed farm shed with multiple exposures. At that time MABAS Box 23-2 was activated to the 2nd alarm and eventually escalated to the 5th alarm. The MABAS response was affected by another large fire incident in Rock County at the same time.

Fire attack was limited to defensive mode due to the condition of the property, wind speed and wildland fire threat. Immediately following arrival, the fire spread to a vacant home, which was damaged due to a previous fire on January 27, 2025, and several other large wooden farm structures. Embers did cause the fire to spread to a nearby property, causing damage to two vehicles but it was quickly contained. The fire was contained at 17:18, and crews began to be released. Two firefighters were injured at the scene, both were treated and released from the hospital.

Cause and origin are undetermined and under investigation at this time by Darien Fire/EMS.

We are grateful to our assisting agencies from Walworth, Rock, Jefferson, Waukesha, Boone, Winnebago, and McHenry Counties for their response. Additionally, we thank Liebsle Excavating for their timely response.
