INCONCEIVABLE

How is it that the ‘leader of the free world,’ a man who, as late as Thursday last week, could not comprehend the difference between Harlem, New York, and Harvard University on national television while answering a reporter’s question, is not being heard and viewed concerning his presentations?  That particularly nonsensical presentation to the public and many more.  How is it that even though such ‘mistakes’ by the leader are inescapable signs of mental problems, likely linked to the onset of dementia, they are being swept right over by most of the media and, of course, the MAGA believers.  It seems Inconceivable to imagine that this is all happening right in front of everyone’s ears and eyes, yet it truly and most damagingly is.

The genius character in the fabulous movie called Princess Bride (released in 1987 and screen written by William Goldman) was predictive when be continuously used the word “Inconceivable’ to describe reactions to his perfectly logical and brilliant conclusions when presented to the other characters in the story, not gifted with his level of intellect.  Are we living through a time where the millions of miles of lead pipes supplying institutions and homes across the country have delivered a hundred years of water to great swaths of the public?  The main symptom, not reversibly, to drinking lead-poisoned water isn’t death.  It’s a reduction in intellect and acuity, and it’s particularly selective in causing these lifetime symptoms and effects in children. It’s also permanent.

What can explain such a large portion of the American population that cannot catch on to the fact that alienating all of the country’s friends and severing alliances left and right cannot and will not lead to ruin for almost all concerned? Tariffs that have already disabled great parts of the nation’s hugely successful economy are ignored.  Inconceivable.  How cannot everyone of any rationality not see that the country is living in fear of what might happen next because the bizarre nature of all of our leaders’ attacks cannot allow for the sustaining of any kind of calmness. It is truly Inconceivable to live among a part of the population that also cannot have the word ‘Inconceivable’ said to it without the next step of what fear and terror cause to emerge. That is violence. It is constantly said and written that the nation has never been more polarized.

Actually, it has been. That period, back in the 1800s, created a state that allowed the entire population to slide right into the Civil War. Polarization has reached a point where that word does not properly describe what’s happening socially. The country is being divided into enemy factions.  In only a few years, and with the full cooperation of the mass media, the country has been incomprehensibly divided into two factions that appear to be getting ready to treat and then take action on subjects like immigration, the economy, the system of justice, and even following a belief that it is better to have and follow the U.S. Constitution rather than giving that up and following an authoritarian leader.  The Civil War was fought over slavery, although at many times in many places, that is denied. States’ rights, economic effects, racial contentions, and more are used to deny that the conflict was about slavery. It would seem from these modern times of much more technical superiority and complexity that the Civil War’s cause was an easier and simpler one to comprehend.  It is not.

The likely civil war potentially up ahead in America’s future will be about slavery, again, but it will not be either predicted or described that way, just like before.  Today’s ‘slavery’ will be the result of a few, mostly older men, taking over the reins of money and power to enslave those who have less of either or both. The Civil War period occurred when the nation’s population was about 31 million. 750,000 died in that conflict, or about 3 percent of the population.  The population of the U.S. is currently at about 350 million.  3 percent of that amount, if such a return to civil war were to take place, is rather easy to calculate.  It is Inconceivable to consider that the nation could be headed in this direction, but the emotional, fearful, terrorizing effects have been brewing and now beginning to circulate openly all through the culture. Of course, in case of hostilities beginning, there were only about 22,000 guns in private hands.  Today, the American public owns and possesses 500 million.

Is it Inconceivable to be considering these numbers, that history, and the effects almost everyone reading this is beginning to feel as the U.S. threatens most other countries on the earth and then continues under this leadership to destroy trade, the economy and any support for the poor, the disabled, the aged and also sews hatred and discord throughout the culture? Truly Inconceivable.
