LIVING HERE
Lake Geneva Library Garden.
The Lake Geneva Library and Rotary Club’s Monarch Habitat Garden has been established for about one year, and the butterflies are now well aware of their existence, showing up in great numbers. The plans were first presented by the Rotary Club two summers ago. The seeds were planted, the garden is fenced off, and the butterflies are here. The ribbon cutting ceremony last spring was a great community event with many residents, city officials, and some of the younger students, with butterfly wings on, from Central Denison participated in the opening of the garden. The garden is located on the lakeside of the library, so not only can a passerby enjoy the perfect view of the lake, they can also enjoy the butterflies fluttering about.
The Lake Geneva Rotary Club, the Lake Geneva Library, the Geneva Lake Conservancy, the University of Wisconsin, North Wind Perennial, and the Lake Geneva Public Works all worked together to make this happen. The Rotary Club is in charge of maintaining the garden and doing a great job at it. The garden is a destination for many and a great learning experience for kids and adults. The garden has plants that attract the monarchs it also has signage with educational information. This is a wonderful addition to the library, the library park, and the lakefront.
