Everyone loves the Pearce’s!
The Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association this week announced the nomination of Bob and Mary Ann Pearce, owners of Pearce’s Farm Stand, for the prestigious 2026 Governor’s Tourism Legacy Award. The Governor’s Tourism Awards recognize outstanding contributions to the state’s hospitality and travel sector. This year’s WATA-affiliated nominees span multiple categories, highlighting the diversity and impact of agricultural tourism. This nomination honors their 60-year commitment to building a destination that defines Wisconsin’s farming heritage and serves as a vital economic engine for Walworth County. Robert (Bob) and Mary Ann Pearce started dairying in 1955, just a mile down the road, and moved east to the corner of County F & Hwy 67 in 1965.

The Pearces are the second family that has operated the farm since Wisconsin became a state in 1848. A few of the original buildings from that era are still in use today. In 1967, the Pearce family had a few dozen extra sweet corn and pumpkins. The 5 Pearce kids decided to sell the surplus vegetables by the edge of the road to raise money for 4-H projects and their college education. Today, Pearce Farms continues to offer a wide variety of quality, fresh fruits and vegetables that have been offered for years.

The Pearce family has made their farmstand a major tourism landmark that now attracts visitors from all over the country. Their operation supports 50+ seasonal jobs and significantly contributes to the county’s tourism growth, which saw a 4.7% increase in visitor spending in 2024. Winners will be announced at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism on March 17, 2026, in Milwaukee.

Good luck to Bob and Mary Ann!

Williams Bay neighbors hope they can park more easily with the proposed parking limits.
Williams Bay’s Streets and Highway Committee recommended enforcing an all-day two-hour time limit on the streets surrounding the Green Grocer. As of February 2026, the Village of Williams Bay is considering a proposal for a two-hour parking limit on Walworth Street down to Pier 290 and surrounding residential areas to alleviate congestion, particularly before the summer tourist season.

Residents would be exempt and receive placards for their vehicles. The purpose is to prevent long-term parking in residential areas and free up spaces for customers and visitors to local businesses. The move is intended to deal with the high traffic and parking demand brought on by the visitors during the busy months. Cars can currently park for an unlimited amount of time south of Highway 67. Residents are hoping the proposal passes.
