LITTLE GEMS
Natural Grocers is coming to Lake Geneva this summer.
The work is underway, and the signage is up for this new grocery option that many are anxiously awaiting the grand opening of. The store is located on Edwards Boulevard in the old Joann Fabric store, which they acquired in a bankruptcy auction. Natural Grocers is a Colorado-based company that focuses on organic produce, natural meats and dairy, vitamins, and dietary supplements.
Natural Grocers was founded in 1955 by Margaret and Philip Isely and is still managed by the Isely children. This organic grocery store is expected to have a great variety of products in its approximately 15,000 square foot space. The exact opening date has not been announced, but is expected to be this summer 2026.
The failed candidate for mayor comes roaring back.
Mr. Hoiland, who lost to re-elected mayor Todd Krause by a resounding 36.2 percent of the vote in this recent election, was making all kinds of motions at the first city council meeting following that election on Monday night. Basically, the council ignored him, along with his motions.
The GSR won’t repeat his motions because, well, they don’t exist anymore, which is most appropriate, given Mr. Hoiland’s questionable status to remain a city councilor once the council considers his very inappropriate actions during the last election. There is also the question, with an answer to be discovered by a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request to the city for campaign contribution statements made by Mr. Hoiland. It seems that Mr. Ron Geman, who puts out a quarterly ‘magazine’, allegedly spent seven thousand dollars to put out what the magazine termed its ‘election edition’, heavily favoring Mr. Hoiland. One wonders, before the FOI data becomes available, just how much expense was attributed to a campaign contribution for Hoiland by Mr. Geman.
