SURPRISING STUFF

The last Lake Geneva School Board meeting was packed.
Parents of Lake Geneva Schools left the April 12th School Board meeting with more questions than answers. Parents are still processing the fact that teachers are frustrated to the point of resigning. Two educators at Central Denison Elementary School informed the school board members and parents that they were leaving due to administrative concerns. At least four other Central Denison teachers are also resigning after this year.

With so many well-liked and respected veteran teachers leaving, who knows how many others will join the list before the next school year begins? Teachers in many school districts are frustrated with the workload, lack of support, and pay. Administration seems to be a unanimous reason for leaving, including micromanagement issues, unequal class sizes, unfair treatment from administration, safety concerns, building concerns, and more.

The Lake Geneva School District acknowledged the staff and public and stated they are taking these matters very seriously and deeply value every educator. Lake Geneva School Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m., with so many concerns on the table and now with so many new hires needed before the fall semester, there may need to be more meetings scheduled. Many parents are expected to attend the upcoming meetings.

The chat with the Lake Geneva School Superintendent, Dr. Pete Wilson at the Coffee with the Superintendent, Wednesday, May 20th, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Geneva Library was LIMITED to 40 citizens
