THE BRIGHT SIDE
Delavan police and fire were dispatched to the intersection of South Second Street and East Wisconsin Street, by Phoenix Park, at around 3:34 p.m. on Friday for a motor vehicle versus scooter crash.
A 12-year-old child sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by Flight for Life following the crash. The driver, a 16-year-old, has been cooperating with law enforcement. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with the investigation. There was then another incident in Williams Bay when a kid fell off his scooter, was unconscious, and flown using ‘flight for life’ services. We wish all families involved our deepest sympathy and a speedy recovery. There have been many incidents with scooters and cars this season. The glare from the sun, obstructed view, and many other things can play a part in a true accident.
This is a reminder to make sure to wear a helmet while riding a bike, scooter, or motorcycle. Also, it’s a great idea to remind children about bike safety.
The Ukraine Benefit at the Simple restaurant on Broad Street. Jeff and Bev, the wonderful owners of Delaney Street Mercantile at the corner of Main and Wrigley Drive. The benefit is set for Wednesday at five p.m., and the cost or contribution to attend is fifty dollars per person. Tom Hartz is helping sponsor the event, as supporting Ukraine is quite popular across America, even though not by the current administration. Jeff goes to Ukraine to bring supplies and help where he can, just back from the lines (hopefully). He goes at his own expense, and his tales and adventures along the way are well worth listening to. The GSR will attend, and the staff hopes you will too.
