As the school year comes to an end, so does the old elementary school in Williams Bay.
The building is being torn down after standing empty for a decade. The demolition will clear the way for a new housing development on the site. Fox Development is transforming the dormant Williams Bay Elementary School grounds into an exclusive community of 10 upscale lake estate properties with upgraded amenities. Demolition of the former school started this week after months of speculation. Williams Bay alumni have come by to pay their last respects to the building.

Neighbors have opposing views on the development. Some criticized the Williams Bay School Board for how it handled the property after the new Williams Bay Elementary School opened in 2016, and worry the new plans will push long-time residents out. Others are ready to see any type of progress with the property and think anything is an improvement from an old, decaying school building. Building could start soon after demolition.
