Little Gems
Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to Lake Geneva.
Currently the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts to Lake Geneva is located in Delavan on Borg Street, and it’s quite popular with hundreds of people a day going there every day. Dunkin’ Donuts counts customers, and also how long they stay in the shop. Fifteen minutes is the average visit to the Delavan Dunkin’ Donuts. The Delavan owner wants to come to Lake Geneva, and since the newest Starbuck’s is going in down near the Wal-Mart. The donut shop (which is really a coffee shop with donuts) owner is looking for space downtown, not on the outskirts. Currently, Lake Geneva has Starbuck’s, Geneva Java, Avant, and two smaller Starbuck’s operations on the north and eastern fringes of town. Can another coffee shop make it? Possibly, if the emphasis is on getting people in and out mostly for a donut or two. Currently, there are no donut shops in town, or anywhere else around the lake. It’s gonna be interesting, as usual, in downtown Lake Geneva this summer.
Lake Geneva Economic Development Corporation.
What do you call a very powerful small ‘pocket’ operation/commission/board or whatever the ‘development corporation’ really is, other than a secret cabal of the Lake Geneva Illuminati. Know who’s on the board? How about some very successful (rich) white guys from around the area, plus the Lake Geneva City Administrator, two alderpersons and the mayor. It goes downhill from there. Incidentally, the Lake Geneva Economic Development Corporation has never ‘developed’ anything in all its years of existence. It is not required to hold open meetings. It gets no tax money, but it gets plenty of influence and favor. This very silent little operation is being scrutinized right this minute by the GSR X-Files investigators, and a more revealing report will be forthcoming soon. Incidentally, the develop corporation started with millions of dollars of city land given to it for nothing. Some members of this illuminati group have been allowed to acquire parts of the land for a huge discount.
Full service gas station, as in the days of old, in Walworth.
The gas station bears the same name as the bigger entity that owns it. Sentry. The grocery store put up the station a few years ago. They were the cheapest gas for awhile, but then got in line with everyone else. They established a credit/club policy of giving credit for buying certain foods. In return credits were given for buying gas, and money could be saved. That’s not the only innovative thing this gas station is doing. One day a week it offers full service for no additional cost. Attendants come out and ask you if you want full service. Say yes, although your shock may cause you to say ‘no’ right off the bat. They wash your windshield! Like old times! They take your card and run it for you (it’s Walworth so don’t worry, they don’t get into a car and run for Illinois!). This is a really neat service and the GSR is going to figure out their schedule so you can take advantage of it.
Business of the Week

Call and find out the price. People don’t do this with drugs. Do not go to any pharmacy and just pick up a drug you might need. Plaza Pharmacy is the only pharmacy in the area that encourages this kind of conduct. That’s probably because they usually have prices well below those charged by Wal-Mart and Walgreens. Plaza Pharmacy in Elkhorn is independently owned and run. Call them at 262-723-844 and you will probably be pleasantly surprised. They are on East Geneva Street in Elkhorn. Easy to find.
