DANCING WITH THE DEVIL

The time for immediate inaction has arrived, as the actual ‘fields of combat’ remain undecided on the national decision-making scene. The Geneva Shore Report wrote of how the community should respond for what was about to transpire several weeks ago as it is no longer requiring either a genius I.Q. nor even a crystal ball to figure out that the current deep nosedive the country is taking will even itself out or recover without drastic actions occurring to either right the ship of state or recover the hulking wreckage of it to begin anew as the true destructiveness of the ‘storm’ begins to subside.

The writer of this front page has been steeped in combat, wounded more than once, and recovered. Condition critical prognosis poor are not diagnostic words that are a stranger to him, but they are words he never wants applied to anyone in this community if they can be prevented using certain General Sun Tzu admonitions and instructions for physical engagement. Before having to participate in violence of any sort, avoidance, hiding, deception, flight, or any other device to avoid combat should be used unless there is no other choice but to engage.

Currently, as predicted, the nation is throwing itself toward eventually open combat with itself. Varying political and social elements in the culture have reached a point of criticality that the editorial staff not only predicted but have been mightily afraid of. Many cultures have fallen to ruin through the ages right at the pinnacle of success, of which maybe the Roman Empire might be the best example. A culture that eventually selected insane leaders and outrageous financial overbalancing of aristocratic favorites. However, the communities like Lake Geneva, established and thriving around Geneva Lake, are an island of peace and solitude as the flames of civil disturbance, financial dysfunction, and potential violence loom just beyond Walworth County’s horizon.

Weeks ago, this newspaper recommended inaction (part of avoidance) and financial withdrawal from making expenditures until a clear path might be foreseeable through the developing fields of potential social disturbance leading to protests, armed resistance, and then quite possibly violence. The author traveled to New Mexico to research a novel and discovered on the day of this writing, the day the stock market crashed at a level not seen since the Great Depression of 1929, that the prices for meat in Santa Fe at Kaunies Grocery and Trader Joes had already begun to skyrocket, as the suppliers immediately raised prices in expectation of the global crushing effect of the world’s greatest economy imposing brutal tariffs willy nilly around the world. Even the abandoned island above Norway was assigned tariffs, although the islands, populated solely by penguins, are not likely to counter with retaliatory tariffs of their own. U.S. Choice rib steak was 43.93 a pound at Kaunies and 35.99 a pound at Trader Joe’s. Those kinds of prices have never been seen in the U.S. before but are now very likely to become low benchmarks unless something happens to prevent the financial withdrawal of ‘waters’ going out in fearful expectation of a tsunami forming and coming in with unknown devastating effects.

The leaders of the lake communities are solid and experienced but have never faced anything like this before in their lives.  Acting just like everything is simply going to go on like it has before and is not going to work anymore. No longer can rationality be assigned to describe the decisions the U.S. leadership is making, so as much withdrawal from the situation as can and quietly be done must be accomplished. Historically, the coming demonstrations that are made against outrageous leadership decisions around the world have initially been met with overwhelming police and military force.

Don’t demonstrate. We must all wait and hold our ground and be very vigilant. The time of taking deep inhalations before letting our political breath out is over. The time of getting ready to get ready is over. Get ready… it is here and now.
(Incidentally, the publisher and writer of this article has been a republican all of his life until the current leadership appeared almost nine years ago).
