According to the President, The staff of Geneva Shore Report woke up on Sunday morning at the end of last week to discover that Ukraine had attacked Russia two years ago and started the war over there. Elon Musk, along with some teenage hackers, fired about a hundred thousand government workers and is working to fire about two million more(including the locksmiths who work at the U.S. National Parks and operate the restrooms…thereby leaving some bathroom goers locked inside). The GSR is ready this week and waiting to go to the national protest being mounted in every capital city in the country on the 4th of March.
The GSR will be covering that event and will publish the place and time in the next issue and online in the GSR video news and weather feed (Facebook).
Since January 20th of this year, Canada has become an opponent of the USA, along with Mexico, Panama, and Denmark (owner of Greenland). NATO is all but consigned to the dustbin of treaty organizations as the U.S. appears to withdraw its substantial support. There is also talk in D.C. of the U.S. withdrawing from the United Nations.
At what point will the United States be sitting on the bottom of a ‘cistern in the barren’ that it dug almost overnight? In a world of 197 countries, almost all of which are tied fairly or powerfully together in trade, tourism, and conditional friendship, the U.S., is known to be the way-out front leader in almost every area of successful endeavor and social circumstance and even assistance is pulling away from all of them, like a great fissure opening as a world-shaking earthquake begins.
Inflation is beginning to rise once again, as it did mid-term when Biden was president, but was ‘guaranteed’ not to by the incoming leadership that replaced him. Military bases are being tasked with building tent cities inside them to house the millions of supposed criminal illegal immigrants to be deported (to where nobody seems to know and at an expense that could easily amount to trillions of dollars).
The U.S. today, according to the leadership, wants to make both Greenland, Canada, and the Gaza Strip into states…which can only leave intelligent residents of the U.S. sitting still in front of their televisions in shock with mouths gaping open. There is little discussion about the 1.9 million Palestinians who are there or trying to get back inside their destroyed landmass. Egypt and Jordan, the neighbors of Gaza in the Middle East, want nothing to do with them.
Some readers may review this article as one being devoted to national politics and not the local scene where most readers live, work, or visit. This national situation is going to lead to circumstances that flow downhill, to the bottom of Lake Geneva’s own developing ‘cistern,’ as time goes by. If the Department of Education closes, as is being openly discussed at the national level? If Social Security payments are cut or even ended? If Badger Care (Wisconsin’s name for Medicaid? is ended or goes to an onerous ‘prove you are working to receive any benefits’ situation? If Veteran’s benefits and care are reduced? The nation, and Lake Geneva right along with it is in a state of hope.
Hope that none of these supposed discussions about such things ever bear fruit in the real world everyone lives in. The wealthy need none of those benefits but never forget that in Lake Geneva over forty percent of the elementary school students attend, and get free lunches because their parents are earning less than 130% of the nation’s poverty income level together.
There is a protest in fear of being held in Madison on the 4th of March, against these potential coming changes being enacted. You might consider, if you are not among the six percent of those considered wealthy in Walworth County, at least attending to see what might be done to influence national decisions that sure as hell can affect you in the deepest and most hurtful of ways. Quite possibly, the most important thing you can do to help yourself and your family in this uncertain time is to start paying very close to all the news channels, not just the right-wing stuff. Listen for the thunder.
